About Kim

“From a physiology perspective, growing and birthing a baby is totally fascinating… but becoming a mum made me realise that it’s so much more than that. A woman’s experience of pregnancy, birth and as a new mum can impact every part of her life. It’s a major transition point, and whatever background we have, most of us go into it pretty blindly! I truly believe that with the right extra support, women can have a more positive experience- not just during pregnancy, but for their birth and starting out on the crazy journey into motherhood!”

Dr Kim de Vocht, PhD BSc DipHb(KGH) has an extensive academic and practical background in pregnancy and birthing. Kim is a mum herself and is passionate about supporting women to have a more positive experience through pregnancy, birth and beyond in a down to earth, open and relaxed way.

Having originally studied Medical Sciences (BSc, 1st class), Kim developed a keen interest in the human body, particularly surrounding pregnancy and birth. She gained practical experience of looking after women during their pregnancies, births and in the immediate postnatal period while working as a maternity care assistant in a Somerset NHS maternity unit. Kim went on to complete her academic Doctoral training in Maternal and Fetal Health at the University of Manchester and subsequently went on to lead research and teach at the University of Bristol. In a research capacity, Kim has authored 18 peer-reviewed academic publications since 2013 and has presented on a range of topics at National and International Conferences.

Kim has always been interested in the mind-body connection for positive wellbeing. After several years of practicing Yoga, she took the opportunity to deepen her understanding of Yoga for pregnancy and birth by completing the Yoga Alliance accredited teacher training course with Bristol City Yoga. Kim has also trained as a Hypnobirthing Instructor with Katherine Graves Hypnobirthing, accredited by the Royal College of Midwives. Kim uses her training and research background to design classes and workshops that are safe and effective and has enjoyed supporting hundreds of women through their pregnancies to life as a new mum.
