The details…

The programme enables you to personally forge your path and is self-directed, in coordination with a health professional. The programme isn’t about creating a fear of dying but a joy of living.

Once you’ve had your initial one-to-one health and wellbeing assessment you will come away with an understanding of your current health and wellbeing. The lifestyle changes are led by your individual health and wellbeing goals in coordination with a health professional.

The programme itself is focused on four areas around nutrition, movement, stress management and psychosocial support. All sessions and assessments will be delivered by Richard Hannam; he has worked in the area of health, exercise and wellbeing for over a decade. He has conducted thousands of assessments and supported many more individuals on their health and wellbeing goals.

Each week will include a moderate exercise session designed to build fitness, stamina and mobility. Sessions will also include discussion around the practical implementation of healthy nutrition, stress management and social support techniques.

The health and wellbeing assessment is an opportunity to talk through the programme and ensure suitability. It is encouraged that a spouse attends this where possible. We’ll discuss medical history and medication before the health assessment itself which involves:

  • Body composition (BMI, waist, body fat %)

  • Full cholesterol profile (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, HDL/total ratio, trigs)

  • Blood glucose

  • Systolic and diastolic blood pressure

  • Heart rate variability and emotional wellbeing

  • Exercise and functional capacity testing

  • Nutrition

Social support is often underestimated in its power to improve health. Research now clearly demonstrates the importance of support in improving health and wellbeing. Unhealthy behaviours that impact our long-term health often appear during times when life demands are high, but often continue to persist long after the event.

Nutrition in the form of a Mediterranean diet that includes whole foods, plant-based diet, low in refined carbohydrates and animal products and has been proven to reverse heart disease and provide potent protection against type 2 diabetes and cancer. You’ll get meal ideas and the practical ‘how to’ that will help you achieve your health and wellbeing goals.

Movement is at the cornerstone of any health programme; the body is designed for movement. Discovering what movement is fun and sustainable for you. The course aims to progressively increase your stamina, fitness and mobility.

Stress management in a world that’s changing at an ever-increasing rate, the environment and the stress associated with it won’t change, but we can alter how we respond to it. Higher levels of stress likely impact our health and wellbeing in variety of ways. Having the right practical tools and techniques can significantly reduce the physiological load on the body.
